At DataChef, we believe in mentorship, and everyone has a mentor. Your mentor is not necessarily your ‣ (or manager or boss!). Even if you feel your team lead could be a good mentor, we recommend you find someone else to benefit from different perspectives.

Unlike the Team lead, a mentor can be anyone in DataChef (or in rare cases, even outside DataChef) to who you feel comfortable enough to open your kimono and talk.

What is recommended to talk to your mentor about?

Anything you wish!

However, speaking from experience, we recommend valuing their time and organizing your thoughts and agenda before meeting to maximize this time.

Here are some directions you can bounce with your mentor:

• Feelings (highs and lows): but remember you can always talk to ‣ as she can help you in a broader sense.
• How to build a stronger Internal Profile
• How to build a stronger External Profile
• Project/Client-specific challenges: remember you can always talk to your ‣ about this.

What is not recommended

• Attending meetings for rituals, with no prep, questions, or updates. Remember ‣!
• Creating circular mentorship like A 🔄 B as you deserve tough love and circles increases the chance of “Let me mirror what you just told about me.”
• Compensation talks with your mentor as s/he has no control over it.
